The Park is currently OPEN.
Below are some rider impressions of the park.
SUVLAKO:"Did anyone think it was very dry and dusty? I wasn't there so I don't know. I heard some not so positive comments from some of my friends who went. they said they really wanted the mulch back and that it was hard pack only out there??"
FGR01:"A few thoughts... the course layout feels generally faster or more open then before. The ground was very hard packed, rocky, rough and dusty. Sure to get better as the team figures things out. They made fast work to get some water out and get the dust under control. It was a warm windy day also which didn't help. Some of the jumps are a little "rough around the edges" with clods and random lumps of dirt here and there. I'm sure this will be refined as time allows. Safety concern: The chain link fence poles that are holding the orange hurricane fencing to mark the insides and outsides of corners. They are sawed off with sharp edges on top. These should be replaced with hay bales or something else. You can see them in the video how close they are. All in all, I had fun riding today and I'm sure things will only get better."
tucaz65:"I share the same concerns on the metal poles... remove them all and use hay bales if possible. One other concern is after the middle step up and double there is straight section that has two jumps on it. (the section prior to the corner leading into Hamburger).....after the second jump there is a light pole straight in front of the track that could get someone seriously injured.. I saw a few people having to dodge it.. plus, of all the poles, this one has no tires on it and only a small amount of hay protecting the pole... may need to realign the track in that section or put some good protection on the pole... over all the track has promise.. needs to be watered and packed and it will be fine. The rythem section needs to be smoothed out a little and made more consistent accross each bump...the small bumps next to the start straight need to be removed or made into a nice table or double. The track seems a little short but from what I understand it will be longer next week... Also need to add a ton of mulch to the corners to hold moisture (like Canyon or ET-sorry)... standard desert dirt will not hold and will eventually blow away. In the long run the track will be great, can't wait to start ridig one a week for a change!"
BEGRider:"Dont be fooled by my name but ive been to a few tracks and when they say riding starts at 6 it means riding at 6. Not track prep at 6 and riding at 7, and when your watering while we are out on the track i think that means its a little to late for water here in the desert. I went out there tonight for a very short time and it was horrible. Looks like I'm going to be driving up north again F#&% ME!!! "
motoxchik106:"BEGrider, that's exactly what happened sunday, riding was supposed to start at 11 am didnt ride till noon. Also, pro and int classes had more than double the motos than the begginers and peewees had. Thats not very fair."
bmc630:"I'm glad to have a track so close, but there are still some major issues. I really hope that MC takes all of our opinions into consideration and makes the appropriate fixes. I think that the biggest issue is that there is literally no section of the track that is rider friendly for all levels of riders. From the jump angles to the complete lack of berms, there is nothing about the track that isn't completely geared toward high level riders. That's awesome that people were trippling the rhythm section and doubling the finish straight, but what percentage of the Tucson area riders can pull that off? I think its imperative to make a track that can be ridden to the pro riders' potential, but the novice and intermediate riders can also go out and clear the jumps and have a fun time. There are a lot of other issues that have already been addressed, but I think this is the key. Thanks MC for taking the reins and hopefully you guys can do this thing the way it should be done!" |
